Without a doubt one of the most interesting objects in our solar system. Enceladus is 314 miles in diameter and Saturn's 6th largest moon (about the same size as the State of Arizona). It is the most reflective body in the solar system. It has a global saltwater ocean underneath its water ice crust that supply water to the more than 100 geysers at its south pole. These geysers spout water vapor which helps create one the the bands in Saturn's ring system. Because of its liquid ocean rich in organic compounds, it it believe to be one of the best candidates for potentially finding life on another world.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe 3 most unique features in this English Roundhand presentation are: the enlarged n, the old-style arching stem d, and the descending s-final. Enlarging the next letter following an initial capital can create an optical step-down transition from the large scale of a cap to the following small letters. The arching-d sometimes offers flourishing opportunities not presented by a straight-stem-d; not to mention an more playful look. The descending-s was usually terminated simply just below the baseline without any loops. Vesta's true details were not known until it was visited and mapped by the Dawn Spacecraft in 2011. But since the word is a short \u0026amp; simple name, I chose to dress the composition up slightly by using a more sinuous form of capital V which I find more elegant than the usual pointed nadir form. I also opted for a couple other less common details to add more visual interest, such as an \"st\" ligatured from the waistline, and a \"t\" crossed above the waistline. Its size is 255 x 163 miles. Hyperion is thought to be the remnant of a larger moon destroyed in a collision. Its sponge-like appearance is unexplained. Its density is extremely low, almost that of a ball of rubble, possibly glued together with water ice. Hyperion's rotation is tumbling and unpredictably chaotic.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe calligraphy is in late-period Roundhand. Ultima Thule is a trans-Neptunian or Kuiper Belt Object (a minor planet beyond Neptune) contact binary (2 objects that touch and orbiting a common center of gravity). Ultima is the larger of the two bodies with a diameter of 12 miles (19 km), Thule the smaller, with a diameter of about 9 mile (14 km). Its rotational period (an Ultima Thule day) is about 15 hours. It take 8 minutes for light from our Sun to reach Earth; it takes 6 hours to reach Ultima Thule. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAs in all the rest of my astronomical series, the calligraphy is in a traditional English Roundhand. I wanted to keep the letterforms and flourishing basic. Having no descenders in the word-set the T is the natural candidate to sprout the flourish. The flourish, extended yet simple creates an optical counterbalance to the planetoid, and a graphic \"nest\" for the words to rest upon. Named after a priestess of Hera from Greek mythology, Io (pronounced eye-oh) is one of the 4 Galilean moons of Jupiter, and the fourth largest of Jupiter's 79 moons. Io is Jupiter's closest moon, and the most geologically active body in our solar system having what is believed to be 400 or more volcanoes despite not being much larger than our own Moon. These volcanoes are driven by tidal friction from Jupiter's immense gravity, and are constantly recoating the surface of this moon with sulfur \u0026amp; various sulfur compounds providing the amazing coloration.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBeing about the shortest name possible, making the calligraphy feel like a title was a little challenging. It isn't even as warm as a human body. Cataloged as WISE1828+2650 (green dot pointed to by arrow) it is located in the constellation of Lyra. Brown Dwarfs, aka Sub-Stellar Objects, are star-like objects that don't have enough mass to trigger fusion and ignite into a Star. Not actually brown, the term refers to their cool temperature (relative to stars) and dwarf refers to their size (relative to stars).\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIt seemed appropriate to render the caps \u0026amp; any flourishing in understated fashion. But to keep things interesting I chose rarer forms of English Roundhand \"r,\" not only to lend interest to the understated words as well as reflect the peculiar nature of the object.
