Astronomy - Asteroid - English Roundhand
"Asteroids are minor rocky/metallic bodies that orbit the Sun inside the orbit of Jupiter. Just blurry dots in telescopes until recently, several have been visited by spacecraft in just the past half decade and we now have amazing photos of some of these objects. Pictured with my lettering is 21 Lutetia, imaged by the ESA's Rosetta Spacecraft. 21 Lutetia is about 61 miles in diameter and resides in the main asteroid belt.
Variations of English Roundhand "A"s such as this one have always been among my most favorite letterforms. The uncial-script "d" (as opposed to the straight stemmed version) offers a tremendous number of flourish possibilities. I wanted the flourishing to allude to tumbling but controlled orbits."
