Minerals - Dalmation Stone - English Italian Hand
"Dalmatian Stone is a form of Jasper (aka chalcedony), which is essentially an opaque form of quartz. Jasper occurs in a wide variety of beautiful colors & patterns, so is popular in jewelry craft. I don't think one need comment on how Dalmatian Stone gets its name.
The 2 most interesting features of this example of English-Italian Hand are probably the cap long-S and the bisecting flourish between the n & S. Flourishes are almost always done in the area surrounding the line of words like a nimbus. But in old styles of flourishing they were sometimes also done between words as in this example."
