John Seddon - Inspired Piece
"Cap P in the style of John Seddon. Seddon (1644–1700), with contemporaries Ayers, Cocker, et al, was one of the early English pen masters. The early English writing masters emulated the popular French and Italian styles of the day, but they laid the groundwork for what would become English Roundhand, the script style that would dominate the next 300 years.
This P is in a French style of script. The eyelet in the upper shaded stroke would be due to a skip in the flow of the writing fluid due to spreading the pen's tines so drastically. While this occasionally happens, some penman for awhile began using it as a little graphic detail to add interest."
