Marking Letters
"Another page I drew up just as a fun handout in classes. The "marking letter" was a playful style popular with scribes post Civil War. It grew in popularity from about 1865, peaking in the 1880s, then fading around 1900. It was used for brief things like titling, short quotes, &c. The title and illo at the bottom were especially fun to do."
