Old English Letter "ð "
"In Old English the letter ð (ðæt to the Anglo-Saxons) was used somewhat interchangeably with the character þ (thorn), both represented the compound letter th. This redundancy eventually lead to the dropping of ð in favor of þ (thorn). However both characters are still used in the Icelandic alphabet to represent th, but with subtle pronunciation distinctions."
