Minerals - Siderite - English Italian Hand

"The mineral Siderite is iron carbonate. It is commonly found in the rock of coal veins, hydrothermal veins and bogs. Siderite is named from the Greek word sidiros = iron. The translucent crystals of siderite commonly range in color from light yellowish-brown to dark greenish-brown, but can also be found in yellow, gray or even white or black depending on additional chemical influences. Often associated with galena (a form of lead ore), the crystals of my specimen shown here are adhered to pyrite, an iron mineral also known as "Fool's Gold."

The Italian Hand style I've rendered here is more of the early English type, which is rounder and still strongly influenced by the French from than later variants. For instance, the S and t are pure French. The r is a rare form that has long been a favorite of mine. The S and d were inspired by the work of Writing Master John Seddon (1644-1700). "
