Unlike meteorites which are found everywhere on Earth, tektites are only found in specific regional fields. Ancient cultures considered these objects, when found, magical and associated them with the gods. Interesting considering the strikes occurred around 800,000 years ago. One 10th century Chinese text says the people working the fields called them \"inkstones of the Thunder Gods.\" \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis T, though one of the more unusual forms within English script hands, was still fairly commonly used 200 years ago.
