Minerals - Amazonite - English Italian Hand
"Amazonite, named after the Amazon River, is a dramatic blue-green feldspar which has become fairly popular in modern jewelry for obvious reasons. Blue mineral colors are usually caused by copper content, but in the case of Amazonite it appears the coloration is more a result of lead.
I got playful with this design; The "A" is an old-style French form of script cap rendered in an English-Italian Hand manner and ligatured to the "m." English-Italian Hand utilized both a descending z (as in my Azurite piece) and a body-sized z (i.e., x-height). This is a body-sized z, but with an extended exit flourish. Small, rippling terminal flourishes are fairly common within English-Italian Hand."
