Howard Paper - Initial E

"Another elaborate letter done for the cover of a Howard Papers promotion. This time it is a victorian E. This is old art before computers were dominant. So the E was inked on board and the white/gold/black were on 3 separate acetate overlays. The checkerboard border was yet another overlay. The background is red-phase variegated leaf (i.e. metal), similar to gold leaf only pot metal. That's 6 layers of separate art. Computers make this process so much easier today. "
