Long S - "So"

"Readability is the ability to recognize a character in context, while legibility is the ability to recognize a character on its own. I created this as a classroom prop to illustrate the point that you can have perfect legibility and still have no readability. In this case unreadability is due to unfamiliarity with the first letter. Called a "long s," forms of this letter were used since the times of the Romans. It began fading from use around the mid-1800s, however examples of its usage could still be found up to nearly 1900. BTW, the word is "So." The style is a modern typographic form is my own design."
