Novelty Lettering - Medial Criss Cross
"Another interesting and unusual novelty style from the late 1500s. I don't think this style had a name so I refer to it as "Medial Criss-Cross." Note the u-shaped v in Novelty; The pointed-base v was was not yet in use and the u-shape did double duty at that time. Over a dozen more examples of historic novelty scripts may be found in my "Lettering Art 2" photos."
