Minerals - Sulfur - English Italian Hand
"Sulfur is not often thought of as collectible. But its bright yellow crystals actually makes a bright & beautiful display. I always gets asked if it stinks. Sulfur specimens don't produce much scent unless rubbed or crushed. In ancient times sulfur was known as brimstone. The word can be spelled with a ph (chiefly Brit.) or an f.
English-Italian Hand often used a long languid cap S so I thought this would make a nice holding-shape for the specimen. This hand used the same form of small r 98% of the time. But as usual, I try to share the rarer forms when possible. The final r is a good example of this. This form of r was used in more of a decorative capacity than in common usage. Unlike the rest of the lowercase characters this form of r was rendered using both normal shading and reversed shading equally. I've used the reverse shading here to create a subtle bracketing with the reverse shading of the cap S."
